ABOUT BRAINSPOTTING:
Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with BioLateral sound, which is deep, direct, powerful yet focused and containing. Trainings are 9 am to 6 pm CDT each day and count for 21 clock hours that may count towards continuing education credits, depending on your state board licensing requirements.

Brainspotting identifies activated eye positions designated as Brainspots. Located through either one or both eyes, Brainspots are observed from either the “Inside Window” of the clients felt sense and/or the “Outside Window” of the clients’ reflexive responses (i.e., blink, eye twitches or wobbles, pupil dilation, quick breaths and subtle body shifts). Students will first learn the phenomenological approach that underpins strategies for Brainspotting, followed by strategies for identifying and processing Brainspots. Attention will be given to the utilization and integration of Brainspotting into ongoing treatment, including highly dissociative clients.

Brainspotting is adaptable to almost all areas of specialization. Brainspotting provides therapists with powerful tools to enable their patients to quickly and effectively process through the deep brain sources of many held traumas, emotional, somatic and performance problems.

PHASE 2:

In this 3-day intermediate training, participants will:

-Be given a review of the four basic Brainspotting techniques learned in the Brainspotting Phase 1 training.
-Acquire basic mastery of five more advanced Brainspotting techniques.

This live Zoom training will be facilitated with didactic lecture, PowerPoint, handouts, role playing, dyad practice, and live demonstrations. Live attendance with camera access, sound, and a private space is required.

Brainspotting Phase 2 introduces students to five additional Brainspotting techniques to broaden the skills of the attendees in treating their more severely traumatized clients. Two techniques are taught for clients who have adaptively dissociated as a result of severe trauma. These “frames” are called “Rolling Brainspotting” and “Inside/ Outside Window” Brainspotting. This allows relevant eye positions to be found for the client outside of their awareness. The clinicians learn to identify reflexes in the body, eyes, and face that are signals from the client’s brain that an area of significance has been found in the visual field. This is groundbreaking for clients who have not been able to heal because of their dissociation or “freeze” response. The next three techniques are aimed at quickly adding layers of additional resourcing for clients who feel overwhelmed in session or find themselves shutting down. These techniques are called, “One Eye Brainspotting”, “Z Axis Brainspotting” with “Vergence Brainspotting” (More rapid Z Axis), and the “Advanced Resource Model of Brainspotting.” Attendees will review key principles and theories from Phase One in addition to learning important tools and techniques in working with Dissociation and the more severely traumatized needing higher levels of resourcing. These five new methods of Brainspotting allow the clinicians to find specific, resourced eye positions to keep their clients within their window of tolerance. The more advanced techniques will engender confidence in the attendees ability to handle more fragile and dissociative clients.

POST TRAINING CONSULTATION GROUPS:
To support integration of the material, two optional consultation groups will be offered after the training on the following dates:

Tuesday, September 10th, 2024
2-3 pm CDT

Wednesday, September 25th, 2024
10-11 am CDT

AUDIENCE:
Psychologists, social workers, counselors, coaches, healing professionals with strong clinical backgrounds, current students, and interns

  5. Describe the oculocardiac reflex and its relationship to the vagus nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system.

  6. Demonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the rolling Brainspotting technique.

  7. Demonstrate a basic mastery of the combined inside-outside Brainspotting technique.

  17. Describe the role of attunement and its importance in the resource model in supporting clients with C-PTSD and DID.

  18. Describe homeostasis and the essential resource (survival instinct) and its connection to trauma processing with Brainspotting.

  19. Assess how specific advanced Brainspotting techniques can be used for complex PTSD and other trauma related conditions.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION:
Complimentary certificates of completion for 21 clock hours are sent out after the course for those who complete the entire training. However, we now also offer CEs through ASWB-ACE, NBCC, and NYS (New York State). CEs are a separate $40 purchase and must be purchased by the end of class. CEs are not available after the class ends.

We will update the link soon so you can purchase CEs. If you intend to get CEs, please also email us and let us know (you can contact us here) so that we can ensure you are on the final CE roster given to our CE host.

You will need to do your research on whether you qualify to use these. Each state has their own rules, and some will accept them, others will not. Full attendance is required, as well as the completion of an evaluation after the course. The evaluation will ask if you felt you learned the specific objectives listed above.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
We will provide you with a full refund if you cancel up to 14 days before the event (less $75 administrative fee per ticket purchased.) We do not offer partial refunds if you are unable to attend the entire training. However, we know that life situations arise, so please contact us if you have a special circumstance.
