This beginner level 60-minute course offers a clear and accessible introduction to Brainspotting therapy—exploring how it works, its core principles, and the powerful ways it can support healing. Participants will gain insight into how trauma can present itself in different forms, learn the neurobiological foundations of Brainspotting, and understand the theory that guides this therapeutic approach. You’ll also discover how to locate and target brainspots and identify at least two populations or issues where Brainspotting can be especially impactful. Whether you’re a clinician curious about Brainspotting or someone interested in learning how this therapy supports transformation, this short course provides an engaging and practical overview.

This is a self-paced, non-interactive online video course offered in a home-study format through a secure learning platform.

AUDIENCE: Psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, executive/life coaches, medical professionals, occupational therapists, physical therapists, naturopaths, acupuncturists, massage therapists, clergy, healing professionals with strong clinical backgrounds, students and interns in a mental health graduate program, or the general public.

CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION: This course totals 1 CE hour. Certificates of completion for 1 NBCC clock hour will be sent out within 24 hours after completion of all course requirements.

Mariya Javed-Payne is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and International Brainspotting Trainer and Consultant. She is the founder of Awaken Consulting Services, where she offers Brainspotting therapy, training, and consultation focused on trauma, somatic psychotherapies, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and anti-racism. With over 14 years of experience, Mariya has worked extensively with addictions, complex PTSD, racial and ancestral trauma, oppression, and chronic pain. A visionary leader, she has held senior clinical roles and trained teams of physicians, therapists, and social workers to provide trauma-responsive, anti-oppressive care.

POST-COURSE EXAM REQUIREMENTS
A passing score requires answering at least 80 percent of the quiz questions correctly. If a passing score is not achieved on the initial attempt, additional attempts may be made until a score of 80 percent or higher is obtained. Quizzes are graded automatically and results are provided immediately upon submission through the learning management system.
