In this 3-day intermediate training, participants will:
-Be given a review of the four basic Brainspotting techniques learned in the Brainspotting Phase 1 training.
-Acquire basic mastery of five more advanced Brainspotting techniques.
This live Zoom training will be facilitated with didactic lecture, PowerPoint, handouts, role playing, dyad practice, and live demonstrations. Live attendance with camera access, sound, and a private space is required.Brainspotting Phase 2 introduces students to five additional Brainspotting techniques to broaden the skills of the attendees in treating their more severely traumatized clients. Two techniques are taught for clients who have adaptively dissociated as a result of severe trauma. These βframesβ are called βRolling Brainspottingβ and βInside/ Outside Windowβ Brainspotting. This allows relevant eye positions to be found for the client outside of their awareness. The clinicians learn to identify reflexes in the body, eyes, and face that are signals from the clientβs brain that an area of significance has been found in the visual field. This is groundbreaking for clients who have not been able to heal because of their dissociation or βfreezeβ response. The next three techniques are aimed at quickly adding layers of additional resourcing for clients who feel overwhelmed in session or find themselves shutting down. These techniques are called, βOne Eye Brainspottingβ, βZ Axis Brainspottingβ with βVergence Brainspottingβ (More rapid Z Axis), and the βAdvanced Resource Model of Brainspotting.β Attendees will review key principles and theories from Phase One in addition to learning important tools and techniques in working with Dissociation and the more severely traumatized needing higher levels of resourcing. These five new methods of Brainspotting allow the clinicians to find specific, resourced eye positions to keep their clients within their window of tolerance. The more advanced techniques will engender confidence in the attendees ability to handle more fragile and dissociative clients.
ABOUT BRAINSPOTTING
Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with BioLateral sound, which is deep, direct, powerful yet focused and containing. Trainings are 9 am to 6 pm CDT each day and count for 21 clock hours that may count towards continuing education credits, depending on your state board licensing requirements.Brainspotting identifies activated eye positions designated as Brainspots. Located through either one or both eyes, Brainspots are observed from either the βInside Windowβ of the clients felt sense and/or the βOutside Windowβ of the clientsβ reflexive responses (i.e., blink, eye twitches or wobbles, pupil dilation, quick breaths and subtle body shifts). Students will first learn the phenomenological approach that underpins strategies for Brainspotting, followed by strategies for identifying and processing Brainspots. Attention will be given to the utilization and integration of Brainspotting into ongoing treatment, including highly dissociative clients.
Brainspotting is adaptable to almost all areas of specialization. Brainspotting provides therapists with powerful tools to enable their patients to quickly and effectively process through the deep brain sources of many held traumas, emotional, somatic and performance problems.
